  Franciscan Apple

Franciscan Apple Plate PlatternGladding-McBean produced Franciscan Apple dinnerware in California from 1940 to 1984, with production continuing in England and later China after the Glendale plant's 1984 closure. Franciscan Apple featured hand-painted rich red apples and dark green leaves along a scalloped edge. Franciscan Apple pieces produced in California will have a Made in USA backstamp.  The hand-painted featured tend to be lighter in color on pieces produced in England.  The new Chinese pieces with an apple backstamp should be avoided as they are quite ugly.
